For numerous chefs, there exists a pivotal cookbook that served as the catalyst for their culinary journey. I own about 125 books in my current cookbook collection. Among them, my favorites are Pok Pok and Momofuku. What I love most about these cookbooks is my passion for Asian food.

To capture my interest, a cookbook must allow me to envision the finished dish and adjust ingredients to personalize the recipe.

I haven’t received any recipes passed down to me yet. My mom holds onto my grandmother’s recipes, and I’m not seeking them out now. I want Momma to be around for a long time. One of my favorite recipes that I’ve developed is seafood japchae.
